Lady Gaga, Forbes #1 Celebrity

Social Management

Forbes has made it official: The new power rating is dollars earned and social sense. Oprah Winfrey, perennial favorite for topping the Forbes Celebrity 100 index earned $290 million last year, but lost her #1 status to the infamous Lady Gaga. Forbes’ reasoning was simple; Gaga may have earned far less, but her social media presence is worth more. With 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers, Gaga and her Little Monsters account for more people than the combined populations of the cities of New York and Los Angeles, three and a half times over.

Since her meteoric rise in 2009 LMG has been the agency of record for the management of Lady Gaga’s social presence including but not limited to the management of her Facebook, MySpace and Twitter profiles.

Forbes uses a combination of different sources of data including Google rankings, Facebook searches and press mentions from Factiva to create an algorithm that calculates a celebrity’s visibility in the media. According to Forbes, Lady Gaga’s megalithic social media presence and constant internet activity earned her the number 1 spot in both the ‘Web Rank’ and ‘Social Rank’. Three other LMG clients placed with Lady Gaga in the top tenth percentile of the overall Celebrity 100, reinforcing the reputation LMG has earned as the go to Social Media Agency for high profile clients.
